I'm Danielle Davis
CHILDREN'S BOOK WRITER AND CREATIVE WRITING TEACHER
Hello!
I'm Danielle Davis. I grew up in Singapore and Hong Kong and now live in Downtown Los Angeles.
My first picture book is To Make, art by Mags DeRoma, from HarperCollins. My first middle grade novel was Zinnia and the Bees.
Represented by Amy Thrall Flynn at Rubin Pfeffer Content.
I read, write, and roller-skate, as well as facilitate creative writing workshops for kids, helping them express their unique voices and imaginations.
My creative writing YouTube channel for kids is This Writer's Life, and I'm a contributor at KidLit TV.
I volunteer with Reading to Kids in Los Angeles.
I blog about picture books at This Picture Book Life.
I've got an M.A. in literature and creative writing, and a number of years ago, I had the privilege of teaching English to middle school and then community college students.
A number of my short stories have been published in literary magazines, and most recently, I published an article, "Story Breath: Inspiration for Plot and Pace in Picture Books," in the SCBWI Bulletin, with material from the online picture book revision workshops I sometimes facilitate.
