Hi, I’m Danielle Davis.

I create and connect.

I grew up in Singapore and Hong Kong and now live in Los Angeles.

My first picture book was To Make, art by Mags DeRoma, from HarperCollins. My first middle grade novel was Zinnia and the Bees. And more chilldren's books are on the way!

I'm represented by Charlotte Wenger at Prospect Agency. I'm a writer for children, picture book coach and editor, collaborator, teacher, producer, and organizer. My goal with every project is to offer kids validation, comfort, and hope.

I organize The Rights of Every Child project.

I love visiting schools and libraries to read and craft with kids, facilitating workshops with children or professional development folks, mentoring picture book-writers, as well as writing and producing stop motion nimation projects.

My newsletter: PSA from Danielle Davis.

I've got an M.A. in literature and creative writing, and a number of years ago, I had the privilege of teaching English to middle school and then community college students.

Thank you for stopping by!

My Books

My second language is picture books.

I’ve been writing, reading, and reviewing the form for 20 years. I’ve taught classes and workshops on picture books, including with Writer’s Digest University, worked with countless writers on their manuscripts, and been deeply involved in the community of children’s book creators. Publishers send me dozens of books every month (and my library holds are out of control). I have one picture book published and three more forthcoming with many at various stages.

I believe in collaboration. I believe in tuning into your vision and voice and offering feedback accordingly. I want to set you up for your writing process and to own your writing identity (both of which you can carry forward with you), for your project's best outcome and your future pitch!

Editing and Critiques

I consider collaborating with writers on their stories to be sacred work.

Author Visits

My interactive book presentations and workshops leave a lasting impression, igniting children's love for reading and creativity.
